“If you’re working too hard, you’re not doing it right. ENJOY what you’re doing.” – George Jedenhoff
Skier George Jedenhoff is winning life. The inspired and inspiring 97-year-old Wasatch legend/flag-bearer for THE Wild Old Bunch loves powder, but skis everything, and, quite frankly, doesn’t give a damn what his birth certificate says — to him, age is truly just a number. So when we were introduced to him, we were intrigued to say the least. And now that we have happened across these (almost literally) timeless words of wisdom from when he was 96, we’re surely going to listen… as should you.
What did he have to say?
Exercise EVERY SINGLE DAY, from a half hour to an hour.
Need inspiration to get up and at ’em? How about skiing at the age of 97? All he has to think about is another day on the slopes and he is out the door.
Don’t get discouraged. Don’t expect too much. Appreciate what is in front of you, and make the most of it. That isn’t simply being content, but realizing that the mere act of being able to ski and enjoy the mountain should be reward enough.
The rest? Always good to have aspirations and ambitions to push yourself within reason.
New equipment is a must: “All you have to do is hang on.”
Right on, George. Right on.
