It’s something you’d expect to have seen in a trailer from the last Point Break movie; equal parts whoa and why. The Flying Frenchies are a group of friends who basically do really crazy stuff at deadly heights, from BASE-jumping to mountaineering, climbing, and now a fusion of ziplining/highlining, BASE-jumping and surfing. How anybody came up with the idea is beyond me but it’s pretty damn cool either way.
“Life is worth risking so that the message we transmit is intense, and so our existence is beautiful,”says Anicet Leone, one of the group’s technical experts. “Fear slowly becomes our friend: it’s not about eclipsing it but to understand what it has to say.”
It’s actually quite beautiful when you see these aren’t just a bunch of adrenaline junkies doing something crazy for the machismo badge of honor. They’re playing, they’re laughing – and even if they are risking it all – living life the way we all aspire to, as crazy as that sounds.
