Surfers like to compare things to hitting cement. After slamming the bottom at a reef break, a shallow beachie, or skipping across the face at a big wave spot, the parallel is often made. And no offense to Pipe or Mavs chargers, but skateboarders actually do hit cement and they do it often and hard.

That’s because skateboarding by nature happens on cement unless, of course, you’re on a wooden mini ramp, or, say, the frozen beaches of Norway. Which, incidentally, you can make a mini ramp completely out of sand. Who knew?
