It’s definitely not a surfboard, but it’s not quite a bodyboard either. It can kind of be ridden like a knee board and…wait you can tow it behind boats too? And it doubles as a snow sled? What the hell is this thing exactly?
To answer your question, it’s called the Surf Skooter, and it’s pretty much an entry level toy for getting you into waves. The reality is it’s a bodyboard with a retractable handle bar. Surf Skooter’s creator, Michael Hoskins created it as a way to get more people in the water, as surfing itself has such a large learning curve. He’s launched a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $75,000, which he says will help cover the expenses of production.
We all know what happens with these types of price point products in the surf world. Eventually Jamie O’Brien gets his hands on one, charges Backdoor on one or makes it one half of a board transfer at The Wedge, and next thing you know they’re flying off the shelves at Costco. Somebody needs to up Poopies’ health insurance ASAP.
