Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, the perennially-stoked inspiration for the Hollywood film Soul Surfer, announced her engagement this week. In a post on her blog she thanks her family and friends and tells the story of how Adam, a Kauai man whose last name is so-far being withheld, became her fiance.
“Spring of 2012 I met the most amazing person of my life… Adam and I first met at the beach, kind of set up by friends… on somewhat of a ‘blind date’ (haha) – but nooo complaints.”
Then she gets to the big news.
“On April 9, 2012, Adam proposed to me and I said, ‘Yes!'”
