The Inertia

Surf Snowdonia is really, really close to being the first viable option for the public to surf in a wave pool. Using Wavegarden technology, the £12 million facility is due to open their doors this summer. And Firewire has signed on as a partner.

If you haven’t heard about the U.K.s most-talked about wave yet, it’s pretty much what it sounds like: after ten years of trial and error, Surf Snowdonia is claiming they can create barreling waves up to 6 feet, with rides up to 20 seconds long. Too good to be true? Time will tell, but with an investment of that size, I’d wager they’ve done their due diligence.

Firewire will be supplying Surf Snowdonia with boards. “Firewire will supply a range of its latest models to our on-site retail store at Dolgarrog, as well as a number of demo boards, which will be available to all our surfers to put through their paces on a try-before-you-buy basis,” said Andy Ainscough, operations director at Surf Snowdonia. “Our Firewire partnership means we will be stocking some of the most compelling, high-performance boards in the world, which is great news for anyone who is planning to visit Surf Snowdonia.”
