Both Jeremy Flores and John John Florence will sit out the J-Bay Pro due to injuries.

The Inertia

Adjust your Fantasy Surfer lineups accordingly, everybody. The injury list on the 2015 ‘CT is still growing. For the second consecutive contest, John John Florence will be absent in competition due to an ankle injury. That news comes along with the announcement that French surfer Jeremy Flores also withdrew from the J-Bay Open while recovering from a head injury suffered in Indonesia.

The WSL heads to South Africa with Flores currently ranked tenth on the Jeep Leaderboard. The wipeout in Indonesia that landed Flores in the hospital two weeks ago has caused serious enough injuries that doctors won’t clear him to surf the tour’s 6th stop. “I have two fractures in my face and a contusion in my brain,” Flores said after an MRI. He’ll be replaced in the contest by 2015 Injury Replacement Alejo Muniz.

As for Florence, the same high-ankle sprain that kept him out of the Fiji Pro is still slowing him down enough to withhold from competition again. “[John] tried to recover up to the last possible day to fly to J-Bay,” said WSL Deputy Commissioner, Renato Hickel. “But as his foot still pretty sore he decided to miss the event and be ready for Tahiti.” He’ll be replaced by Brazilian Tomas Hermes.
