The Volcom Pipe Pro was one of the best events of the entire year. At pumping, perfect, 8-12 foot Pipeline, the quarter finals included Kelly Slater, John John Florence, and Bruce Irons–three of the world’s most acclaimed Pipe surfers. It was a thing to behold.
While JJF didn’t make it through the quarters, he did put on a show, just as he always does. Bruce and Kelly made it through to the finals, where they faced off against Jamie O’Brien and Makai McNamara, both serious Pipeline contenders as well. Kelly walked away with the win, but the quarters had some of the best waves of the entire event. These are some of the waves they scored in one round, in painfully slow slow-motion.
