Surfing is über hip these days. Ever since the Mick Fanning incident, surfing has become as cool as kale salads and dudes who carry wallets with chains attached. You could almost say surfing is…en Vogue.

Above you’ll see surfing’s leading lady, Stephanie Gilmore, breaking down the ins-and-outs of riding waves for all those landlubbing neophytes. Set on the picture perfect North Shore, she instructs beginners on everything from paddling out to timing your take-off. (Shouldn’t fledgling surfers learn how to walk before they run? Stand up before they shred?) Anyway, Steph absolutely shreds and proves she’s the perfect poster-child to introduce outsiders, meaning tween readers of Vogue who are overly concerned with body image issues instead of substantive pursuits, to the sport of surfing. Plus, she’s radiating.

Last year was the year the rest of the world became obsessed with surfers. Mick’s run-in with the shark goes to show that tragedy sells. And sex. Surfers are damn sexy. Amirite?
