I don’t pay attention to my fins all that much. Fin set ups, yes. New fin technology? Not so much. I like to think that I am a decent surfer. Not amazing, but decent. What my fins are made of, the flex, blah blah blah, matters not much to me. Truth be told, I don’t notice much of a difference, except on very extreme end of the scale. I suspect that a lot of surfers are the same way, but everyone likes to talk tech, and so they do.
Anyway, Craig Anderson is a supremely good surfer. He’s got some new signature fins. “The speed generating characteristics (springy, fluid & responsive) of our Blackstix line would suit his effortless style perfectly!” someone wrote under his youtube ad. “Carbon fiber in all the right places combined with our V2 foil allow Ando to keep speed while setting up big maneuvers down the line, even when the waves are lacking power.”
All that sounds great to me. I like keeping speed and setting up big maneuvers down the line, even when the waves are lacking power. Ando, I’m sure, could probably do that with rough-hewn logs as fins. Sure, not as easily, but he’d figure it out. I would not. You probably wouldn’t either. So if you’re into tech, and would like to surf like Craig Anderson, get these fins. I promise, you will surf like Craig Anderson. I promise!
