The Inertia

Cloudbreak on May 23rd was a day that won’t be forgotten for a long time. Although not quite on the level of the swell that slammed into the Fiji Pro back in June of 2012, it was something of truly massive proportions.

Although everyone on hand that day will remember it, one man in particular has the morning burned into his memory. Aaron Gold started the day off wrong when, just after dawn, he wiped out on a 20-foot Cloudbreak monster and nearly died. Luckily, a handful of the most talented surfers and heavy water rescuers were on hand to save his life.

Even that, though, didn’t stop a crew of the hardest chargers in the world from taking a crack. Jaiden Maclean and Red Bull were along for the ride, and he got the whole thing from above.
