Natxo Gonzalez barged into the public eye just a few short years ago. Seemingly out of nowhere—at least for those not in surfing’s inner-circle—Gonzalez was blowing minds all over the planet, in small waves and in huge ones. Remember that time he found a wave at the edge of the desert that was damn near perfect? He is one of the most exciting surfers to watch, not only for his surfing but for the places he routinely surfs. Natxo is a true explorer, which is a tough thing to be in this day and age. It’s not just average-sized wave he surfs, either. Natxo is a bonafide big wave charger. In fact, at the age of 18, he earned himself a spot on the big wave tour, and although he fell off shortly afterward, he worked his way back on by the time he turned 22. You have, of course, seen Koa Smith’s stunningly perfect Skeleton Bay tube(s). It made its way around the internet like a wildfire. Natxo was there too, and yes, he also scored. The video above is his view of one of the world’s best barrels.
