You undoubtedly saw Billy Kemper’s mind-bending tube from Jaws last week that he called “the wave of [his] life.”
Not to rehash, but if you only saw the front-facing, zoomed angle shot from the cliff at Pe’ahi, you’re missing out. From the front, Kemper’s disappearing act is easy to appreciate, but the water angle shot from the channel shows a level of prowess and finesse in the barrel that’s difficult to believe is possible in XXL surf with ten-foot-plus equipment.
Click the triangle above and watch as Kemper clicks into a tube and halfway through his exit is forced to navigate a step in the face, which he does expertly.
