When it comes to surfing events, the Tweed Coast Pro was one that will be remembered. Maybe not for the waves, so much, which were average, but for Tyler Wright’s down-on-bended-knee solidarity with Black Lives Matter. But the surfing was there, to be sure. And the World Surf League kindly pulled out the sewing machine and stitched together a highlight reel that includes all of the scores in the excellent range.
As you likely know by now, Tyler Wright and Ethan Ewing went on to win the event. Ewing, who scored the highest wave of the event with a 9.77 in the final, seemed hellbent on proving that he’s going to be around for the long haul, while Wright’s performance merely solidified her status. Also included in the reel above are Owen Wright and Stephanie Gilmore, two people of which we will never tire of.
