Twelve-year-old Kaydn Persidok is a ripper. From the looks of it, the Encinitas, Calif. local is well on her way to a fine surfing career. But this week, she got a lesson in viral videos and the general public’s obsession with sharks. She was surfing with brother reef, somewhere in North San Diego County (we assume) when her filmer caught a sizeable great white shark launching out of the water. As Reef gives up on what looked like a throwaway maneuver anyway, the fish jumps behind him. “Anybody else feel a little sharky vibe yesterday out in the lineup,” she wrote. It was more than a feeling.
