Julian Wilson just spent a year away from the tour. The last time he competed, in fact, was at the Olympics. But he’s donning the singlet again for the upcoming QS event in Newcastle, and he’s excited about it. He recently hopped on a call with Dave Prodan for the WSL’s The Lineup.
Wilson and Prodan talked about many subjects over the course of the hour-and-a-half conversation, and his return to the WSL’s events was just a small part. Also on the list is what made him retire from the CT, how having a family radically changed his life’s priorities, and how leaving the tour opened the door for him to rekindle his passion for surfboards that aren’t a plain old standard competition thruster.
He also took a deep dive into how he carved out his hugely successful pro surfing career and what he’s planning for the future. For those interested in pro surfing, the episode of The Lineup is a good one.
