The Inertia

French surfers should just hibernate the rest of the year and come out of their slumber each September. That’s how good Basque Country beachbreaks get when fall comes around. And that’s why everybody, from surfers to photographers and videographers get so damn anxious and excited for fall.

“We couldn’t wait any longer,” photographer David Berthet wrote The Inertia via email this week, being as direct and to the point as possible. And the timing couldn’t have been any better for the CT hopefuls down the coast at the EDP Vissla Pro Ericeira. Not only did that same pulse arrive in time for the Challenger Series to get through some of its early, grueling rounds in Portugal, but that also left some hollow, picture-perfect barrels for a gaggle of standout chargers whose time in Europe isn’t tethered to scoring qualification points. A few lucky souls made the most of it — a trademark early fall pulse in Europe.
