When one thinks of surfing, Germany likely isn’t the first place that comes to mind. Sure, there’s the Eisbach (it’s best to not attempt a naked rail slide into that particular wave), but given the fact that Germany has just a tiny bit of coastline on the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, ocean waves aren’t all that great. But if there’s one guy who will find waves where they’re not, it’s Ben Gravy.
Gravy, as you likely know by now, is on a mission to surf every country in the world. “It’s a TALL order to say the least, but I decided to start the journey by first visiting the countries that have been on my bucket list forever,” he wrote. “Germany isn’t known for surfing, but today we proved that there’s more to surfing in Germany than just the Eisbach River wave in Munich.”
Sure, the wave he surfed isn’t the biggest wave in the world, but like a friend of mine once told me, “if you can see it, you can surf it.” And Ben Gravy is making sure he’s seeing a lot of waves and surfing all of them.
