The Inertia

Jonah Hill found surfing a little later in life than he probably would have liked. When he did, though, he dove in headfirst. Now he’s found a spot for himself in Malibu’s surf scene, and like any surfer in love with surfing, the Academy Award winner is in love with surfboards. If you’re in love with surfboards, T&C Surf is one of the best in the business. And if you want an iconic paint job on a surfboard, there’s no one better than the legendary spray artist Gavin Hasegawa.

The iconic surf brand recently made Hill a surfboard, and as usual, Hasegawa came up with something absolutely amazing. The board dimensions on Hill’s board are 6’1″x20 3/4″x2 3/4″, which comes in at a little under 40 liters. “He wanted something nuts and Gavin delivered,” T&C wrote. “You’ll spot this one in and around San Diego surf zones.”

T&C has a great history. Back in 1971, Craig Sugihara opened the doors to the Town & Country Surf Shop in Pearl City, Hawaii. The building was an old barbershop, and since then the brand has become an iconic one in surfing.

Jonah Hill is an actor, director, and an artist at heart, so it makes sense that he’d look to T&C Surf and Gavin Hasegawa to make him something special. Here, the viewer watches as Hasegawa works his magic on a blank canvas, and the end result is nothing short of incredible.

Hasagawa has over 40 years of airbrushing experience under his belt, and he’s widely known as one of the best to ever do it. Using a combination of freehand techniques, layers of tape, and razor blades, he is responsible for some of the best art on any surfboards anywhere — and Hill’s surfboard is evidence that he’s still got it.
