Way back in 2017, Noa Mizuno made a high school film project. It was supposed to be about something he loved, and he didn’t have a hard time figuring out what that thing was. It was surfing, obviously. Since then, he’s only gotten better at doing that thing he loves so much.
He grew up on Oahu with perfect waves all around him. Hawaiian waves have a little something special in them, a little more oomph. You can spot the people right away that grew up surfing them. Big turns, big barrels, big speed, and in more recent years, big airs. Mizuno has Hawaii in the DNA of his surfing, and no matter where he surfs, it’s clear where he cut his teeth.
In this particular video from Nobody Surf, Mizuno is surfing in Mexico. He’s on a couple of surfboards, one of which is a little more interesting than the average surfboard. It’s Ryan Burch’s 5’6″ Pickle Fork Twin, and Mizuno rides it — and also the Baby Swallow 5’11” by Peterson Surfcraft — extraordinarily well.
