Jack Robinson won $50,000 for his part in 2021’s Snapt4. That was the lion’s share of the film’s $100,000 prize purse and it was a nice cherry on top of the young Australian’s year. He had just finished his first season on tour, which he’d wrapped up with a win in Mexico.

“I definitely felt like I had a chance (to win),” he told The Inertia in 2021. “Everyone’s sessions were so good, but I was lucky enough to get to go to so many different waves — from scoring a huge swell in Teahupo’o to surfing beachbreaks in Australia and Costa Rica.”

And while he’d technically won the honor for the film’s best part, Robinson pointed out at the time that the entire project was stacked. “Everyone had a different style,” as he put it. And that variety made the project special.

Needless to say, Snapt5 wouldn’t be complete without Robo somewhere in its stacked lineup. He’ll be one of two Championship Tour athletes (Yago Dora is the other) featured in the film when it premieres in Huntington Beach on August 2. Whose section is “better” will be subjective, but Robinson hs got nothing to prove here. Maybe he’ll get the closing section honor as a nod to his 2021 win. Maybe he won’t. I do think we can all agree Jack plus some Black Sabbath (RIP to Ozzie) are a solid mix, and we’ve all been sleeping on the “Jack Sabbath” nickname for way too long. It was right under our noses this whole time.
