Labor Day in Malibu, California had it all: sunshine, one of the best swells of the year, and just about everyone in Southern California trying to surf it. Thousands of humans vying for the same wave. What could possibly go wrong?
I filmed the whole scene — the incredible rides, the wipeouts, the crowds, the beach, and even the fishing frenzy on the Malibu Pier.
From nine surfers stacking up on a single wave, to boards flying through the lineup, to rare moments where someone actually scored a perfect ride all to themselves……this was Malibu at its most entertaining.
