Albee Layer is an interesting guy. He’s not exactly shy to let the world know his thoughts. He’s helped to shape big wave and aerial surfing. He’s always kind of known that he would be something in the surf world.
“From an early age, I always kind of fantasized,” he said. “Like, if this was a documentary life story, what am I doing now to work towards that end goal of fundamentally changing a part of surfing? I don’t know if I’ll ever get there or if that will happen, but having that mindset helped me at least get close.”
In In Depth, the latest short film featuring Layer from Rockstar Energy, the viewer gets a look into what makes Albee tick.
“Albee Layer’s story is much deeper than just surfing,” Rockstar wrote. “Tag along as Albee guides us through the highs of creating his own video part, the silent battles beneath the surface, and everything in between.”
Although Albee himself isn’t sure exactly how he’ll fundamentally change any part of surfing, but it seems fairly apparent that he already has. Especially if we look deeper at modern big wave and aerial surfing.
