El Porto, a staple for Los Angeles surfers living in the South Bay, almost never looks like this in the late afternoon. On November 14th, with early winter sandbars, light crowds, and shockingly clean conditions, it all came together. I’ve filmed El Porto for over 14 years, and sessions like this are incredibly rare.
I can’t remember the last time I witnessed El Porto this clean in the afternoon. It wasn’t perfect, but it’s hardly ever perfect anywhere. So it’s days like this that really makes things stand out in the surfing world. That not-often seen combination of timing, weather and a little luck came together to create beauty for surfers who were lucky enough to be on it. It was truly a special day.
