The Inertia

Skiers are used to a little bit of interference from time to time. Sometimes it’s fellow riders, like the right of way dispute that led to a phsyical altercation and ensuing court summons in Keystone. Other times, it’s environmental hazards, like when a group of bears sprinted across a packed run in Tahoe.

But you almost never expect those intrusions to come from above. However, skiers at the Muju Deogyusan Resort in Muju, South Korea, encountered a completely unexpected interruption in February, when a wayward paraglider was forced to make an emergency landing on the active slope.

According to the video licensing agency ViralHog, the paraglider spent nearly two hours in the air and was unable to find a suitable landing area, necessitating the emergency landing. Si Cheon You, who captured the video, explained that resort staff promptly responded to control the area, and police later arrived to investigate the cause of the landing.

Luckily, there were no collisions or injuries reported.
