Earlier this month, Hossegor locals had what they called one of the best days of waves in a decade. Luckily for the locals of the French beachbreak, the sandbars have continued to hold up as swells slam Europe.
Last Wednesday, the tube machine turned on again. A host of French locals, like Marc Lacomare, Kyllian Guerin, Charly Quivront, and Justin Becret, were there to make the most of it. Some Spanish visitors, like Artiz Aranburu, even made the trip across the border to get a piece of the conditions.
“Last Wednesday delivered the kind of surf locals will remember for a long time,” wrote the French YouTube page RIPITUP. “At low tide, La Nord in Hossegor turned into a full-blown barrel machine. Massive waves, perfectly shaped tubes, and powerful lines running down the sandbank. As the tide started pushing, the action shifted to La Gravière, where the sandbank was sitting exactly where surfers dream about it. Deep caverns, heavy drops and wild barrels all afternoon. Days like this are incredibly rare on this beautiful but notoriously fickle beachbreak.”
The side of Hossegor reaching our screens lately has to have the WSL thinking about bringing the Championship Tour back to the French sandbars.
