A few days ago, Jon Pyzel announced that he’d added another member to the Ghost family of surfboards: the Ghost Squash. It is, as the name implies, a version of the ever-popular Ghost model, but with a tweaked tail. Now, Pyzel Surfboards has released a quick video showcasing what John John Florence can do on the thing.
John John is far from the average surfer. What he can do on any surfboard is likely better than what 99.9 percent of surfers on the planet can do on their favorite magic board. But the Ghost Squash came into being due largely in part to the freesurfer, neé three-time world champion’s thoughts on what could be done to make the Ghost a little more wide-ranging.
See, the Ghost is made for powerful surfers in powerful waves. Surfers like John John, who grew up chugging that that famous Hawaiian juice. But not all waves have the energy that Hawaiian waves do, and for most people — even John — it’s nice to have something that’ll cover a few more bases.
