Mason Ho surfing in front of rocks

The Inertia

Mason Ho likes surfing. But Mason Ho likes surfing a little differently than most people. Because he’s good at it, he’s able to make waves that most people wouldn’t surf, fun. Waves with weird backwashes, and his favorite, waves with rocks.

It’s not uncommon to see Mason surfing his way over or beside big slabs of something sharp or hard. If a wave is breaking, he’s going to have a go. One particular pile of rocks on the North Shore is just about perfect for him, so when a little pulse of swell turned it on, he was there.

As you’d expect, this little tube with a pile of rocks at the end of it isn’t a crowded wave. But for Mason, a little tube without the crowd is just about perfect.
