Asher Pacey, going very fast without looking like he’s going very fast. Photo: YouTube//Screenshot
There are few surfers I enjoy watching more than Asher Pacey. I think it’s because he surfs the way I would like to surf. Hell, I’d like to surf as well as plenty of surfers, but something about Asher’s lazy aggression just rubs me the right way.
Impossibly fast without looking like he’s going fast. Powerful without looking as though he’s expending any effort. Fluid, moving with the wave and using it to his advantage without seeming to consider anything at all. Asher Pacey is a perfect example of the tired old saying “no wasted movements.”
In the video you see here, presented by Album Surf, Pacey is “dissecting the variable differences in shape, style, approach, and how they came to be with Matt Parker.”
