After spending the previous day filming closeout barrels at El Porto, I woke up to a completely different scene at Newport Beach. This was one of those mornings where everything seemed to come together. Perfect barrels, huge turns, talented surfers, dolphins cruising through the lineup, wipeouts, dogs losing their minds on the sand, and plenty of beach life in between.
Not every wave cooperated, but that’s part of the fun. One surfer gets the barrel of a lifetime, the next gets handed a closeout and a reality check. These are the kinds of mornings that remind me why I started filming surf in the first place. If you enjoy riding waves, beach life, dolphins, wipeouts, and Southern California coastal culture, you’re in the right place.
