Lance's Right surfing

Doesn’t get much better, does it? Photo: YouTube//Screenshot

The Inertia

There are more than a few so-called perfect waves breaking on this pale blue dot, but one of the most perfect for my money is Lance’s Right. Also known as HT’s or Hollow Trees, it’s the wave you drew in your notebook when you weren’t paying attention in math class. It’s the wave you have dreams about. And on June 27, it was about as dreamy as a wave can get.

It was only for a few hours though, but those who waited for the right conditions got a few hours that they’ll likely be reliving for the rest of their lives. From 5 p.m. until sunset, Lance’s Right went off.

“During they day the wind was south-southwest, which is not great for Lance’s Right,” wrote Surf Raw Files, “but luckily enough in the afternoon the wind turned more offshore and the swell kicked in with the outgoing high-tide!”
