To someone like Nathan Florence, paradise must eventually seem run of the mill. After all, he spends his time hopping around the globe, exploring the locations that most surfers dream of going once or twice in a lifetime. And he gets paid to do it.
On the other hand, even when visiting a tropical eden becomes routine, there are still moments that stand out. One such moment was catalogued in Florence’s latest post to YouTube, in which his one-millionth trip to the Mentawais was rewarded with picture-perfect waves and absolutely no other surfers to be seen.
As the shit-eating grins on Nathan and his brother Ivan’s faces can attest, even the fact that they are on essentially the freesurfing equivalent to a work trip doesn’t dampen the rush of riding a perfect wave. So, in the end, though paradise may be familiar to them, theres actually nothing run-of-the-mill about it.
