Carissa Moore likes to win. And something about Steph Gilmore’s return to form at the Roxy Pro didn’t sit well with the defending Women’s World Champion. So she beat her.
And Tyler Wright, too.
Carissa’s point-and-a-half victory over Wright marked a repeat of last year’s Drug Aware Margaret River Pro final, and it also catapulted Carissa Moore into first place in the Women’s WCT Rankings – tied with Stephanie Gilmore.
“It feels good to be there with her,” said Moore. “I can’t wait to see how the events unfold.”
Jarring still is the seriousness and professionalism broadcast by the new face of the ASP World Tour. The graphics packages and animations in the webcasts are what really do it. Very ESPNish.
Final: Carissa Moore (HAW) 15.73 def. Tyler Wright (AUS) 14.10
