Hélio Valentim was born in 1981 in Lisbon. He's passionate about cinema, surf and nature. His specialization lies in Image and Cinematography. He has worked in TV and now is freelancer Film Director, Director of Photography, Camera Operator, Lightning and Editor, for live concerts, video clips and extreme sports events, mostly surf. He's also a regular contributor of Surf Portugal magazine. He’s interested in video, art and cinematographic language crossing between the other art forms such as photography, art and music. In his leftover time, he develops his own documentaries and short movies that are being shown at several cinema festivals. His last short movie "Soul of a Carnation, Heart of Surf" is a winning festival movie in Portugal and just had its international premiere in the New York Surf Film Festival last week, October 17th. He's now preparing his first full-length film.
