Kate Barattini is a lively young woman from Charleston, SC. As an admirer of the animate yet slow-paced rural living, she highlights the souls of plant, human, and animal life with a realistic approach bound with graphic detailing. Her most recent endeavor has been Animal Shred, a series of 10 paintings that reveal the animal soul of surfers by illustrating their human beauty in conjunction with expressive animal heads. It is a series that derived from a cheeky passion for animal personification and her love of the surfing world. She graduated from the College of Charleston in South Carolina with a Geology degree but has studied visual art from a very young age. With a successful artist as a mother and an early education met with devoted art instructors who worked with Kate one-on-one honed her natural skills and granted her the confidence to explore her talent. Her works have been featured in Austin, TX, Charleston, SC, and Charlotte, NC. She is sure to continue painting with the sole intention of spreading a heavy dose of stoke.
