Growing up on unceded Kanien'kehá:ka territory (Montreal), surfing was always what people lucky enough to have been born near a coastline did. After scoring a master’s degree in cultural history at 33 I picked apples for a while and fled Canada, responsibility, and being land-locked. After riding my first wave in Peru I was hooked, so I spent a year surfing around Aotearoa (learning about my place on stolen land as a settler) before moving to unceded Coast Salish territory (Victoria, BC) in 2015 where I surf, work, live, and participate in the WSI,KEM Ivy Project and the Lekwungen Community Toolshed.
