The Inertia

As a seasoned snowboarder, I’m constantly looking for gear that can keep up with my adventurous spirit. When I tried the Burton Kimmy Bibs ($670), I knew they were about to be my new best friend. In this review, I’ll share my experiences with these pants, highlighting their standout features and potential drawbacks.

With a love for exploration and pushing the limits, I set out to test the Burton Kimmy Bibs in some of Park City Mountain’s most demanding conditions. From the steep chutes and untouched powder of the backcountry to the perfectly groomed runs of the resort, I tested these pants everywhere I could.

Read on for all my thoughts on the Burton Kimmy Bibs, and for more top picks, head over to The Best Women’s Snowboard Pants of 2024.

Notable Features of the Burton Kimmy Bibs

Burton AK Kimmy GORE TEX 3L Stretch Bib Pant

Ideal For: Those seeking a versatile garment that effortlessly transitions from mild to extreme conditions, accommodating various terrains with style and reliability. It is also perfect for those venturing into the backcountry who require lightweight gear to navigate challenging terrain.

Maybe Not For: Shorter individuals as the straps are not adjustable, potentially causing fit issues and discomfort during wear.

GORE-TEX Technology

When it starts dumping snow, the last thing I want to worry about is getting soaked. That’s where the Burton Kimmy Bibs come in clutch with their stormproof GORE-TEX technology. Rain, sleet, or blizzard, these bibs keep me dry and cozy, no questions asked.

3-Layer Shell Versatility

One of the things I love most about the Burton Kimmy Bibs is their versatility. With their three-layer shell design, they’re ready for anything. Whether layering up for a frigid day on the slopes or stripping down for spring riding, these bibs have got me covered. They’re lightweight, breathable, and adaptable, making them the perfect companion for whatever adventure comes my way.

Pockets

Thanks to their clever pocket design, storage is never an issue with the Burton Kimmy Bibs. Whether I’m stashing my phone, snacks, or avalanche beacon, there’s a dedicated pocket for everything. The beacon loop keeps my safety gear secure, while the zippered chest pockets with a built-in device pocket and media port keep my essentials within easy reach. And let’s not forget about the cargo and hand-warmer pockets—plenty of room for all my mountain essentials.

Style

I can’t count how many compliments I’ve received on the Burton Kimmy Bibs’ style. From the striking baby blue color to the perfect design, these pants are a real head-turner on the mountain. And let’s be honest — looking good is just as important as performing well on the slopes.

Low Environmental Impact

As someone who cares about the environment, I appreciate that the Burton Kimmy Bibs are Bluesign approved. It’s reassuring to know that these bibs are made with materials that minimize their impact on humans and the planet. By choosing the Kimmy Bibs, I’m not just investing in top-notch gear—I’m consciously deciding to support sustainable practices and protect the places I love to ride.

Drawbacks

While the Burton Kimmy Bibs excel in performance and style, there are a couple of drawbacks worth noting. I found that the suspender straps were tough to adjust, particularly for someone with a shorter torso. This resulted in extra bagginess around the waist and shins, which could be a potential issue for riders seeking a more tailored fit. Additionally, these bibs come in at a fairly high price point, which may be a deterrent for budget-conscious buyers.

Final Thoughts

The Burton Kimmy Bibs stand out as a top choice for riders seeking the perfect blend of performance and flair. Competing pants like the Backcountry Cottonwoods GORE-TEX Bib Pant ($399) and Trew Gear Chariot Bib PRIMO ($499) may provide similar features, but the Burton Kimmy Bibs’ innovative design and attention to detail set them apart from the crowd.

The Burton Kimmy Bibs impressed me with their performance, style, and functionality. Despite a few minor drawbacks, they proved to be a reliable companion on the mountain, offering unmatched comfort and versatility. Whether carving through powder in the backcountry or cruising groomers at the resort, these bibs will elevate your snowboarding experience.
