1. Foodland: Great selection of poke. Always fresh and the prices are pretty fair. Foodland is a supermarket chain in Hawaii. They have all your local favorites. Everything from ahi, crab, and tako poke. They always have good side dishes that go well with poke like poi and rice.
2. Pukalani Superette (tako poke): Tako or he’e is octopus. This was the first poke I ever had. It kind of scared me at first because of the tentacles. My dad told me stop being a baby and try it. I was five. Long story short, I still get it today. As far as tako poke goes, these guys got it going on.
3. Toby’s Shave Ice: They have really good poke bowls. They always buy local fish and it’s always fresh. Most days, they run out so you know they don’t stock a ton of frozen fish.
4. Poke tacos at Monkey Pod: Iʻve never heard of poke tacos before I went to Monkey Pod. So good. They’re sweet and crunchy. Great combination.
5. Safeway: Very similar to Foodland. If you’re ever in Waiehu on Maui and need a poke fix, this is your spot.
