It was all going so well for Jakob Neuhauser. He was getting one last rip to end a fantastic season near Obertauern, Austria–you can actually hear him whooping for joy when he’s tearing through that open powder field. But something went haywire and he goes over a “6-meter” drop, landing flat on a cement roadway. His groans afterward are brutal to listen to.

“The crash fractured my right thigh, my pelvis three times and one rip,” Neuhauser wrote. “In addition, I bruised my lung a bit. I’ve never been so scared before and never been so relieved to hear that none of the damages would be permanent. They might put up some kind of fence at this spot ; )”
