The Inertia

Colorado had a completely forgettable season last winter so nobody’s holding anything against Wolf Creek Ski Resort on Wolf Creek Pass near Pagosa Springs for opening this early. Barring anything drastic, Wolf Creek will be the first resort in Colorado–and the nation–to start spinning lifts this early, beating the usual Colorado suspects, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin (again, barring any sudden changes).

Wolf Creek is blessed with some fantastic terrain (both on and off-piste) but will only run three lifts this weekend, Treasure Stoke, Bonanza and Nova. And the prices will be affordable. Adults pay $50 for a full day, seniors $33, and $27 for groms.

“This is early for us. Not the earliest ever, but it’s still early,” said Rosanne Pitcher, a part-owner at Wolf Creek. The resort received at least 20 inches of pow in the latest storm. You can find out more details about Wolf Creek, here.
