The Inertia

A skier found dead at Keystone Resort in Summit County, Colorado has been identified. As Colorado Public Radio reports, the man is 59-year-old Eric Baltz of Westminster, Colorado.

Baltz was first found by guests in Keystone’s Outback area, who found him unconscious on a black diamond run known as The Grizz. When Baltz proved to be unresponsive, the guests who found him immediately began CPR and called for help.

Keystone Ski Patrol responded and performed life-saving measures before flying Baltz by helicopter to CommonSpirit St. Anthony Summit Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No additional details about his death have been released, other than the fact that Baltz was wearing a helmet when he was found. The Summit County Coroner’s Office will now perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends affected by this tragic loss,” Sheriff Jaime FitzSimons said in a statement.
