The Inertia

People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Or so they say. When “they” were developing idioms about things made of glass, though, next on their list should have been skateboards. “People that skate should never ride glass decks,” they should have decried. More direct, sure. And not much of a metaphor. But, at this stage in human civilization, such a phrase may have prevented anyone from ever thinking making a skateboard with a glass deck was a good idea.

The guys at Braille Skateboarding do a segment called “You make it we skate it”. In this installment, Avenue Trucks either grossly overestimated the strength of the glass skateboard they built, or they have a sadistic marketing team. In any case, they sent the Braille team a glass demo, and it lasted all of five minutes. Cue the puns about shattered hopes and dreams.
