Kelly Slater makes dreams come true. Well, for two lucky guys. For everyone else who purchased a ticket (or a hundred!) for a chance to surf the wave that’s had the world going goo goo over for the past few months, Kelly Slater crushes dreams. And steals candy from children. That last one might not be true.
Anyway, if you haven’t heard, Kelly partnered with Omaze and WSL Pure – the new non-profit arm of the WSL – to offer two lucky men or women and a friend the opportunity of a lifetime, to surf Kelly’s wave. And today, the two winners were announced.
Cue the drumroll.
Winner number one was Rob W. from Encinitas, California. And winner number two? Palmer G. from Queensland. Memorize these faces well. There’s bound to be a few flare ups in the water when these gents return from their little jaunt in Lemoore from jealous types that think these guys no longer have any business surfing the waves of peasants like you and me.
The pair and their first mates will be flown to Kelly’s ranch to surf for two days, with the king himself acting as guide. Best heed his warnings, too, lest you balloon into a giant purple blob à la Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
