Two people are dead after a shooting in the parking lot of the North Shore’s Turtle Bay Resort. Although the victims, a 17-year-old female and a 44-year old man, apparently knew each other, police aren’t saying how.
Hawaii News Now is reporting that the victims are Shane Francisco and a missing runaway who was a senior at Mililani High School.
The incident is being treated as a double-suicide, but at least one witness finds that hard to believe. “He was yelling and screaming at her at the top of his lungs and she was quiet at first and he just kept yelling at her,” Lori Halemano told reporters. “It appeared she was trying to get away from him, so they ended up from one end of the parking lot over to another part of the parking lot.”

When Halemano left the resort after a fundraising event, she heard to pair arguing. “All I heard was the guy yelling at her and her screaming back at him, then the two gunshots then everything went silent,” she said. “My initial reaction was I thought ‘Oh my gosh he probably just shot the girl and the police officer shot him.'”
Police, though, are telling a different story: according to them, the victims were found inside a car with gunshot wounds to the head.
Shane Francisco was reported missing on September 25th. His vehicle, a black Jeep Wrangler, was spotted in the Turtle Bay parking lot on Friday afternoon. Hawaii News Now reports that police were watching the vehicle until the pair showed up. The female victim is believed to be a runaway who has been missing since June.
