The Inertia

In Southern California, longboarding has a storied history. Clubs up and down the coast have long held contests to highlight the pursuit. In that vein, the above video goes behind the scenes at the 36th Annual Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club King and Queen of the Pier contest.

A couple weekends ago, some of the best longboarders in the world – such as Andy Nieblas, Kevin Skvarna, Honolua Blomfield, Makala Smith, Kai Takayama and many more – convened at the Oceanside Pier to surf and goof off. Conditions weren’t anything to write home about but that’s not the point of longboarding. Riding logs is about making the best of any kind of surf one is presented with, and that’s exactly what happened. For 13 minutes of inspiring noseriding to start (or end) your Friday, and give you something to look forward to this weekend no matter the conditions, click the play button, above.

Only the best. We promise.
