The Inertia

Remember a few days ago when a 16-year-old Finn McGill won the Pipeline Invitational? If you don’t, you should watch both his surfing and (more importantly) his post-win interview. McGill, in all his excited teenage glory, was the best thing about the whole event.

McGill is no stranger to the North Shore. He’s a regular face in some of the world’s best lineups, growing up on a stretch of sand that’s become the center of the surfing universe. His win gives him a spot in the Pipe Masters, a spot on the Occ-Cast, the admiration of every other grom on the North Shore, and hopefully a kickstart to a long career.
