The wave at Snapper Rocks is insanely good. It’s too bad, though, that it just so happens to situated in front of a place that has more surfers per capita than pretty much anywhere else (I don’t know if that’s true, but it sure seems like it), because when Snapper gets really good, it resembles Times Square on New Year’s Eve. But that wave? Just one makes all the hassling worth it. On January 12th, Snapper turned on, and the crowds were a little less… crowdier, if I may make up a new word.
The video you see above was shot near dawn, which may explain the relative lack of teeming hordes. Parko was up before sunup to be there, as were Jay Occhilupo, Brenno, Josh Lennon, Josh Boyle, Sheldon Simkus, and Jackson Close, among others. The early birds certainly did get their worms, didn’t they?
