John John Florence is a tough man to get a hold of. He’s famously under the radar; exceedingly careful about protecting his privacy. It’s understandable — as one of the best surfers in the world, he’s got a pretty recognizable face and all that recognition might get a little tiresome. But he recently sat down for the World Surf League’s The Lineup Review to talk candidly about a whole bunch of stuff, from why he decided to get a coach, growing up with Kolohe Andino while they were both under the heavy weight of worldwide expectation, and those carves at the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro in 2017.
