The North Shore can be a scary place. Anyone who tells you different is either lying or hasn’t been there. The waves get huge, the crowds get even more huge, and it seems as though all eyes are on everyone surfing–if you’re surfing a few select waves, that is. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Alex Knost, the leader of the soul-arching, don’t-care-but-actually-care crowd, along with Ellis Ericson, took the smarter route and found a few waves that are neither death-defying or inundated with eyeballs. All it takes is a few strange boards, a few decent waves, and two extraordinarily talented surfers.
