Very few people are lukewarm on Alex Knost. That is to say, his approach on a wave and other creative endeavors he’s a part of can be polarizing. One group sees him as a creative visionary. The other perhaps aren’t sure what to make of him. Not that Knost cares all that much, anyway.
Regardless, Knost has been, and will always be, unapologetically himself – and that rings true in his directorial debut Tan Madonna. By his own admission the film “goes nowhere and yet knows every step it wants to take.”
We’re not sure what that means exactly, but with a cast including Vans team riders Michael February, Lee-Ann Curren, Harry Bryant, and Karina Rozunko, the surfing is quite good.
